25e Festival de Peinture a Mascouche

It was fun to be in the 25th edition of Festival de Peinture a Mascouche. Making new friends and seeing old friends again. This year the invited artist Jacques Leveillee did a retropective of his works. Wow!

Bois des Filion symposium + festival de peinture a Mascouche

The past weekend I participated at the 15th edition of Bois des Filion art symposium. Got beautiful weather but not much crowd though. :(  I had a bit of time to paint which was awesome! I did a couple of landscapes and a portrait inspired by Vermeer and the film a girl with a pearl earring starring Scarlett Johannson. Hopefully I can continue working on her at the Festival de peinture a Mascouche this coming long weekend Aug 30 - Sept 2. This year it will be celebrating the 25th year! Come visit and see great art and artists at work! Hope to see you there.

Festival de Peinture a Mascouche 2010

The festival this year was one of the more successful ones. I sold my first work of art (the first drawing from the right) and it was bought by our honorary artist Humberto Pinochet! What an honor. He is of Chilean origin but has been in Quebec for the past 30+ years. Check out his inspiring work on his website.
I also gave an atelier on portrait drawing to a group of fellow artists. It was nerve wracking since being in front of many talented artists! But I think it went well. :)

My corner at the festival.
Worked on a portrait of Allison when she was about 2-3 years old. pastel on Canson board 16x20.

I also did a portrait in oil of a young soldier. oil on canvas sheet 11x14

This is a portrait of Allison I did at the festival. WIP pastel on Canson board.

Serj Rodrigue doing a demo with his palette knives.

Claude de Lorimier doing a pochade demo outside.

This is my spot. Overall it was a great experience. The festival was well organized. I had some really great comments and made some contacts and future students.

Festival 2007

It was a great edition of the Festival this year. As usual, talent is everywhere. Denis Jacques was the invited artist and his works are exceptional. Well executed works are a signature. It really cool to see original works of a great artist up close. Just like walking into a Museum. Very inspiring. I bought Denis' DVD and he was very nice to autograph it for me. I also bought a work of art by a fellow artist named Guy Hamel. He was the 1st prize winner of last year. I will post it when I have a picture of it.
